I guess it was the fashion for a few minutes to wear those short vests over long shirts but God how unbecoming. She had put on a few pounds since Moonlighting but those clothes made her look terrible. Don't you thinK?

In her autobiography, Cybill Disobedience, she talks about how unflattering and boxy the clothes she had to wear were. She didn't really like a lot of them, and she felt like Mary Ann's skirts were so short as to be distracting.
