OT: Brendan Coyle in North + South, 2004

If you have not seen this one, I heartily recommend it! Brendan plays a character in his early to mid-forties, so visually there's a significant change from his appearance in TGV when he was only 30, but he still has that engaging smile and those "twinkles" in his eyes, as he does currently as Mr. Bates in Downton Abbey. His role as Nicholas Higgins in N&S was well done!

Also, BC was fabulous in "Lark Rise to Candleford", the British series (which I own) by the BBC. He appears in Seasons 1 through 3 as the Robert Timmons and nailed the part! The whole cast and the story are absolutely delightful! I recommend this one too, for the serious BC fan's collection!

Edit, June, 2011: And, of course, his role as the mysterious Mr. Bates, a lame(limping) gentelman's valet, in Downton Abbey. Excellent!

Agreed, agreed, agreed. I loved all those movies before I saw this one, and was pleasantly surprised when I first saw him lifting some sort of sack. It was so nice to see his younger self-very handsome.

He's probably one of my favorite BBC actors. He always seems to know his part and become it.

I love him as both Higgins in N&S and as Bates in DA. And after having read a review and seen some pictures of tGV, I'm considering looking for this on DVD... but might settle for Lark Rise. :)
