Fanfiction??

Man I loved this show. Wish they'd bring it back.

Anyway - just wondered if anyone knew where I'd find any fanfiction (can't find any on fanfiction.net). Is there any??

I think there's a site called Bureau 3 which is full of 'BUGS' fiction. There's someone on another forum (bugs-tv) that sometimes writes fiction and has uploaded some files onto that forum if you're interested.

There were loads that I wrote *sighs*. I've no idea if any are still online. I think there are still a couple on the Bugs yahoogroup- http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/bugs-tv/

In the files section. I'm sure they are riddled with mistakes and typos etc. They were written many moons ago...
A Bugs fan called Christele wrote a fantastic fan-fic called The Darkest Hour. That might be on Bureau 3 actually.

Thanks for the info!! I found Bureau 3, been reading through it...some good stuff. Nice to see some fanfiction, 40 episodes of Bugs is just not enough (got the DVDs for Xmas so been doing some serious catching up, but I've watched them all now).

I'll definitely have to sign up to the Bugs Yahoo group, thanks for the link.

Did you join? I don't think we've had any new people in the discussions yet...

I've just signed up....not been approved yet though, hope they let me in!!

You're in now, right? It's good to have a new voice involved!

I'm in and have posted, yippee!! New place to talk about Bugs! I won't abandon IMDB altogether though....there's few enough people here as it is. It's such a shame, such a great show deserves more fans. There must be more people out there who still remember and love it, they just haven't realised it yet!

I've found the fanfictions in the file section so am now a happy bunny....thanks again for pointing me in the right direction(s) to find all this stuff!

I've downloaded the fanfics that deal with the season 4 cliffhanger, but haven't had time to read them yet - I hope to do so this weekend.

The one called 'Love Is Blind' is my favourite, really plausible. I suppose it's probably something like that they'd have gone with if there'd been a series 5, making the kidnapper some kind of villain from Beckett's past instead of Jean Daniel.

(Although it HAD to be JD, surely?? They never found his body after all.... The only thing that bugs me about it maybe being him is the fact he called him 'Nick'. I thought he always called him Beckett, or in Bond villain style 'Mr Beckett'.)

I had a theory about the chauffeur calling him Nick: he could have said it to put Beckett off-balance. And I think he'd have been more likely to speak to him because he was the leader of the team back when JD knew them, and had more personal dealings with Beckett.
I thought the 'A Price... To Pay' story was quite good. What did you think?
I like to post on here as well as on the other forum because there's probably a wider audience on here because it's a bit easier for people to get on here (better known) so it gives some different responses. It would be good if everyone on here also contributed to the other one though! By the way, if you've got any old magazine articles about 'BUGS' or the actors that you could scan in I'm sure everyone would appreciate it! (I would!)

'A Price... To Pay' was really good, one of the best I've read. It's embarrassing I know but I love fanfiction. I can't write stories that well myself but I love reading them so when I find a show I like it's one of the first things I look for. You can tell a lot about what kind of fans a show attracts from the quality of the fanfictions, strange but true! Everything I've read for Bugs though seems really well written and thought out, not a Mary Sue in sight. I've really enjoyed a lot of it.

I'll have a look for some old magazine articles. I was a bit too young when Bugs was on to really have the money to buy them but I know a few people who might have old copies of things like SFX and TV Zone. I'll ask around!!

I second that - go over to the Bugs mailing list lurkers and get contributing! The show's had a few (lowish) votes on its IMDB homepage recently....so people must be looking.

That's why I never thought it was JD. He never called him Nick, and I don't see why he'd start now.

Well, I've read the "season 5" fanfics, and they're quite good. Mind you, I was a little frustrated with "The Darkest Hour . . ." ending with "to be continued" - is there a sequel to that story out there? I couldn't find anything by the same author that looked like one :-(

reply

I think people like to write in the style of the series, so I suspect that most stories that end on a cliffhanger don't have a resolution. I suppose you could say it's authentic...

You know, embarrassingly, I just sat here thinking, 'A Price...To Pay', which fanfiction is that. But, yes, I hold my hands up- it was me that wrote it. NMice to see that people have been enjoying it anyway. I'm the same as you wixa-247, I love fan-fic. It was only after reading my first Bugs fanfic, 'The Darkest Hour...' that got me into writing my own.
That was years ago, though, and my writing style was really rubbish at the time! A Price to Pay was created more rcently to solve the problems in my original fics.
The thing about J-D calling Beckett 'Nick' always bugged (no pun intended) me too. He never called Beckett that.
I guess we shall never know the truth...

I find it easy to come up with the ideas for stories, but not so easy to actually write them. I can think up plenty of dangerous and life-threatening scenarios, but sometimes it can be hard to find the characters voices.
