Why did Craig leave
Though I still loved the show, it wasn't the same when he left, and the actor that replaced him was not great, they should just have given him his own character, not tried to replace the unreplaceable.
shareYes, I completely agree. Over time I've got used to Season 4 and don't think so badly of it in general, but without McLachlan's cheery optimism and go-for-it attitude it wasn't the same. Would the series have survived longer with Craig on board for Season 4? We'll never know, but I got to meet the guy in 2007 and back then he suggested there was going to be a special made which he'd been contacted about. Whether it was a joke or just a project that fell through, it never happened, but since then I can't help wondering what that would have been like and whether they would have got all the actors back for it or just the main three.
Craig left to pursue other projects after Season 3, but I'm sure he could still play Ed now, though an older and wiser version (Ed? Older? Wiser? Hard to imagine, I know!). Personally I think 'BUGS' isn't going to return in any form now, though I still think there's a huge audience waiting to be tapped, that want something like 'Dr. Who' and 'Primeval' and 'Merlin' but with high-tech gadgetry, more excitement, and less annoying silliness.
