New Actors

If you could choose anyone to play the characters in a new series or film(except the original actors of course; pretend their long dead or something), who would you choose? You can choose anyone you want...

reply

Interesting question - I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, except maybe Judi Dench as Jan?

reply

Excellent, excellent idea! We could have Brosnan as Beckett and Berry as Ros... Can you think of any other possible Bond actors to play famous 'BUGS' characters?
Incidentally Thomas Wheatley (Drake in 'Hollow Man') was in one of the Dalton films - both his characters end up getting blown to pieces I think!

Any of the Moneypennys could do Alex - maybe one of the Felix Leiters for Ed?

But who's Jaws going to be? You've got to have him in there! Beckett's Dad perhaps, he was quite lanky. Then again, perhaps JD would be better: big and scary.

Nah, Jean-Daniel could only be Blofeld, when you think about it.

Funny the way we got onto this all of a sudden - but not that surprising when you consider that Bugs is basically Bond without the sex!

reply

I think 'BUGS' is better personally, but they do have a lot in common - the action, the humour, the corny jokes! Okay, what about this: who would 'BUGS' characters play in Bond films? I reckon that Drake fella would be a good ally, say in one of the Dalton films... Dent or Jan could play M of course, but what about the others?

Rob

reply

Well, Jean-Daniel for the arch-villain, obviously (Blofeld? Maybe, maybe not, he has the authority, but is too imposing physically). His brother Patrick would be an equally good minor villain anywhere (mind you, Anton Lesser who played him could probably pull off any role you give him).

Either Ed or Beckett could have a go as Bond himself, Ros is more geared towards Q (otherwise she would be the better choice for Moneypenny, having the better lines than Alex) . . .

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

reply

Like it. Now we just have to convince the studio...
Who could Channing play? How about giving him a Russian accent and having him be Renard? It's a stretch I know!

On another note, if you could choose anything from the 'BUGS' world to be given at Christmas, what would you choose (assuming all the gadgets and that work in real life of course)?

NOW you're asking! Offhand, I can't remember all the gadgets, and can't think which of them I would find most useful in my daily life . . . I'll have to watch all the episodes again, and get back to you on it ;-)

I'm guessing you've seen 'Casino Royale'. Did you notice that Tom Chadbon (he who played Wyman in 'All Under Control') was credited as 'Stockbroker', although I didn't remember seeing him - did you notice him?

Rob

reply

"I'm guessing you've seen 'Casino Royale'."

Actually I haven't - but from all I've heard, I wouldn't mind. Although I'll probably end up waiting until it comes on the telly. I don't often go to the flicks, and I never go on my own, and as my friends are somewhat scattered round the country these days, that as they say is that.

reply

I wouldn't say it was an amzing film, but it was enjoyable and made me wish for more 'BUGS' as the tension was sometimes reminiscent of the series. Well, it would be wouldn't it.
Hope you had a good Christmas, and Happy New Year! I can't remember if I mentioned it, but Tom Chadbon was credited as 'Stockbroker' but I didn't see him and neither did anyone on my other forum!

Same to you!

"I can't remember if I mentioned it, but Tom Chadbon was credited as 'Stockbroker' but I didn't see him and neither did anyone on my other forum!"

Well, remember he's over a decade older now than when he played Wyman, so it's understandable it you didn't recognise him. Even if I'd seen it, I wouldn't have recognised him straight away, if at all, not knowing what to look for. Even having heard this, I still reckon I'd need a good long look.

reply

I went and saw 'Casino Royale' again and this time I was looking out for him. He was in a couple of scenes early on talking to the villain Le Chiffre on the phone! He looked almost exactly the same as in 'BUGS'!

Rob

reply

Well, it just goes to show what I know! I'll have to keep my eyes open when it comes on the telly!

reply

Yes, it's worth catching.

Jesse Birdsall or Craig Mclachlan could have played Bond, but I think both of them are too old now.

Jan Harvey could be M (After Judi Dench)

Paula Hunt could be the new Moneypenny (After the release of SKYFALL of course! Anyone saw any trailers yet?)

Jaye Griffiths could be an old flame of Bond.

The guy who played Jean-Daniel could be a villain like Blofeld or Renard (From The World Is Not Enough)

But this is just wishful thinking! :D
