Anyone know....?

How the series would have ended or gone onto the 5th season if the BBC hadn't cancelled it?

Why was Adam shot (Poor Alex! It's like James Bond in reverse, he survives while his wife dies on the day of their wedding!) and who kidnapped Roz and Beckett? Who was the mysterious man driving the limo? Who was Stefan and how did Adam know him???

Man, the producers left a LOT of threads (and fans!) hanging. Wish they'd ATLEAST come up with a novel (Ala Burn Notice, Remington Steele, etc.) if only to tie up loose ends!

Anyone know anything???

And yes, the show's episodes WERE slipping towards the end in the middle of 1999 (When I was barely 17! Hehe!) but they weren't THAT bad as compared to the trash we get on TV. So does anyone know why the BBC in all their wisdom and glory (Pshaw!) pulled the plug on this wonderful series?

I wish I knew answers to all those questions! A few years back I contacted Carnival Films, the production company responsible for the series, but didn't get real information from there. It's probably a case that the writers had some idea, but it wasn't locked down, although a couple of them have apparently shown interest in the past at continuing the story, but that was a long time ago.

It's good to see Carnival are doing extremely well. It's unlikely they'd bother with a new 'BUGS' now, but they still feature a page about the series on their site, along with all the other productions they've done.

Hopefully the acting and the writing would have improved. Quite honestly it was just awful.

It wasn't as good as the previous seasons, granted, but it wasn't awful, it was just that some of the best writers, such as Stephen Gallagher had left, the budget was lowered, and the season was unexpected anyway as it was only back by popular demand, Season 3 supposed to be the last.

Personally I was glad we got Season 4, even though it wasn't as good, because we found out more about the characters, meeting Beckett's Dad and Ros' Mum, and while the depressing soapiness was taken too far and for too long there were still some great moments, and the opening two-parter worked well.

If there had been a Season 5 and it had been worse than 4, I'd still have watched it because I love the characters, setting and style and would just like more! Not a good thing, I suppose, but you'll almost take anything if it isn't around. We could have been dissecting an extra season, even if we didn't think much of it.
