Death of the western

Seeing this for the first time last night lets me know that westerns died after 1990. We are not allowed to see people getting shot or stunts on horseback anymore in case someone watching might get offended. Lonesome dove was the last decent western ever made.

I don't remember any shoout-outs or stunts in the Buffallo Girls book. Why would they be in the movie?

reply

I wonder, maybe it would be because of what I wrote in my first comment.

This movie was what i like to call, a LIPSTICK WESTERN its more laidback style western thats all.

Maybe DEATH of the western is too strong - or doesn't even really apply to this kind of movie - it was almost like a Disney movie

- but it was still fun and full of great actors - to me, it's one of the best things Angeluca ever did - I thought she was amazing.
This is still one of 'go to' movies on a long winter day or job rain-out.

somehow they don't work anymore, everybody say they prefer old westerns, there are few made after the mid 1990's i've liked, i didn't know palance were making westerns right after city slickers, i thought of city slickers as western there for a while too but ofcourse it isn't. i was disappointed the actors in this movie weren't using their real voices, and i had no idea before i started watching that it was made for tv. the fine performances by palance and the leading ladies just felt like a waste on this. notice palance refer to being weak for redheaded ladies once again. the dog made it through the entire movie.. (mini series or what it was) who would have thought.

i've been deep in space on a mission for mankind,
on my space journeys the likes of you i've never found,
making discoverys on planets all around,
realised all the universe i need,
is you right there in front of me,
as honey you i keep on explore,
without ever getting tired of you at all,
and all these space exploration of expensive cost was to no use,
cause earth is the only planet thats got you.
