Am I the only one who hates the actresses?

I can't get through this miniseries because the four younger women grate on my nerves so much. Alison Elliott is the only one I can tolerate. It's like mainstream American actors can't do period dramas unless they're about gangsters of some kind, the Wild West, or the antebellum South.

But then I think of the cast of Little Women, Reese Witherspoon in Vanity Fair, Uma Thurman in various period dramas, and I think maybe it's just these four specific actresses who are terrible.

Sorvino didn't impress me, but I enjoyed the other three actresses well enough, with Elliott the standout among them.

Reese Witherspoon in Vanity Fair? Oh dear. I hated that film and hated her in it. She also ruined The Importance of Being Earnest for me. I've enjoyed her in other films, but I can't take her as an English character, especially one from classic English lit. Sorry!
