I just started this series. Episode 2. Annabelle's new husband won't even touch her. I can't imagine how horribly trapped I would feel in a marriage like that!! I would go insane. What is marriage without sex?! Especially at first. I would leave in a heartbeat. But then again, women really had no rights....they basically were only sombody when they got married. Glad I was born in modern times.
Was this common for people not to have sex? I noticed they had separate bedrooms...

SPOILER ALERT.
I just finished episode 3 and it's fairly obvious Julius is gay, as evident with his longing stare at the stable boy grooming his horse. The boy even smiled back at him so maybe there is something going on with the two of them????

As to the separate bedrooms, that was very common amongst married people of the aristocracy.
