When I was a teenager my mother and I were watching an episode of this show. In this episode, Matt has a crush on his debating teacher. Joey starts dating that teacher. Thus, Matt gets jealous. In respect for Matt, Joey breaks off the relationship with the teacher. Then, that same teacher asks Matt to stay in for a moment after class because she wants to speak with him. He agrees. The teacher wants to know if Matt knows why Joey broke up with her and says, "I've never broken up with anyone before". Matt and her end up having a conversation, and at the end she kisses him on the cheek.

It just so happened that my mother was a high school teacher. At watching the teacher discuss romantic relationship advice my mother said, "You'd be sacked for that!". At watching the teacher kiss Matt on the cheek she said, "You'd definitely be sacked for that." Granted I am Australian, and this show was American, so it might be different in the U.S.A.

a teacher would definitely lose their job over something like that.

I know it's unporfessional for a student teacher to kiss a student on the cheek like that, but it's a TV show, who cares how realistic her relationships with students are.
