Has a Twin Peaks kind of vibe.

Anyone agree?

Agreed.

Other than a supernatural element and some dream sequences it bears zero resemblance to Twin Peaks.

It's the 90's Twin Peaks music that gives you that feeling, though I do find Twin Peaks to be a much better much better series of that time.

Both are small-town fantasy/horror-ish shows but I don't think they're *that* similar. American Gothic was just much more in your face horror/supernatural, while Twin Peaks was more of an artistic effort, the supernatural elements were pretty subtle, it was more of a soap opera about the citizens of the town mixed with a murder mystery, American Gothic is a gleefully over-the-top story about a small town being corrupted and sent to hell (metaphorically) by a demon-like man.

If I'm being 100% honest, I prefer American Gothic. I *love* Twin Peaks and it's certainly an experience every TV fan should have, but I like the mythology and more fun and twisted nature of AG.

In the way that they started writing it without having too much of an idea where it would be heading. Also they threw in supernatural elements to solve dead ends in the writing. Both shows have a good reboot potential, as the development of such shows evolved quite a lot - thanks to shows like these, which pushed the boundaries at their age. However the quality of American Gothic lies more in a warm fuzzy feeling when revisiting it, Twin Peaks aged a little better, since there are more surreal elements which go beyond what was state of the art when it was broadcast.
