2016 show "with same name" gave nod to this show!?

the 2016 'american gothic' show (same in name only & taints the sainted memory of this masterpiece) in the finale
has virginia madsen say, "someone's at the door". now i hope this is a nod, and the cadence of her speech sure sounded like it, BUT it could have been a coincidence. if it was a nod, it was the only forgiving thing about it.
