Is Lucas Buck supposed to be the devil?

I'm about halfway though this show and they (the writers, directors of the series) seem to be strongly implying that Sheriff Buck is Satan, but then I see things that contradict that, like Lucas getting punched in the face by the doctor. Of course, it could have been a ploy to throw people off the truth. So, is Lucas the devil, a demon or a mortal-man with strong ties to the occult? Does anyone know?

OK, that clears things up. I was thinking that maybe he was half-man half-bear and half-pig.

He seems to be human yet be able to

Cause accidents
Shape shift
Precognition
Teleport
Summon spirits
causs fires

There was even one episode where he was in this world and the afterlife at the same time.

It's implied he is a warlock or something similar.
