Suggestions for '90's are all that' line up

First of all let me say this: I love this line up and I can't get get enough of it. Now that that's been said, here are some suggestions that I think could make it better.

1. Their are programs that have been advertised on their commercials that still haven't been shown yet. such as Ren and Stimpy, Double Dare, and Legends of the hidden temple. What are they waiting for! I know for a fact that their ratings are incredibly high, so why don't they just show them already?

2. Why don't they show other 90's shows that aren't advertised or in the line up? There are tons of other shows that aired in the 90's that they don't show, why not show as much as possible? the more shows they have, the better.

3.Why not make it an all night line up? It makes no sense for the shows to start at twelve and end at two. This would espicially pay off on friday/saturday nights.

Agree/disagree? feel free to comment and tell me your opinions or ideas.

Keep In mind, Nickelodeon & teenNick Are only tv channels that air shows.

They are not the production companies who made the shows and hold the main copyrights. This is why All That season 4 just started. They had to wait for TRP to license it.

They can't air Cousin Skeeter, Amanda show, All that, Kenan & Kel with out proper licensing from Tollin/Robbins productions

The Tom Lynch company has to license off South Of nowhere, Alex mack, Allen Strange, ETC.

klasky csupo has to license off Wild Thornberrys, Rocket power, Rugrats, AAAH! Real monsters, ETC

and same with most shows and their production studios

There is a major difference between being able to air a small clip or 1 episode (Upick) and a full season

Not only that, They just started in July when They intended to start in November.

as for an all night line up - have you seen the annoying complaints on their facebook page? people constantly complain that it's on too late when they wanna sleep and that Viacom should just make a whole channel

reply

They have shown one episode each of Double Dare and Legends, as well as two episodes of Ren & Stimpy.

reply

for upick and holiday purposes. and 1 episode is different than licensing a full season or series

Upick is more than just viewers choice - its a test to see which shows are the most wanted. Upick it Because you really wanna see it

reply

I would love it if they air the shows all day and night. Just turn the channel into 90's Nick channel.

reply

Do they even air UPick anymore? I don't think it's fair to include shows they air every night for Upick voting.

As the OP mentioned, I wish they would at least get around to airing the shows that are in the
promos.

It's beginning to be a bit of a disappointment.

Ever since New Year's Eve, the only U-Pick has been Super Bowl weekend. The next one is planned for the weekend after St. Patrick's Day, with a choice between Salute Your Shorts and CatDog.

Hmm...thanks for the info!

I agree there should be a 90's Nick channel but unfortunatly Nick is too occupied with the crap they have on now. Drake & Josh was the last good show they had. I however am tired of All That and Kenan & Kel being the main focus on the 90's Are All That. I mean they were good shows when they were on before but if we can't have a whole channel at least play others. Alex Mack, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Rugrats, Real Monsters and the slime filled exciting game shows! I get that Nick may not have all the rights but they're not trying very hard to get them. At least that's my opinion.

reply

I wish people would stop making a fuss that the 90s are all that focuses on all that - They named the block after it.

that's like Dairy Queen catering to SuperDude's Lactose intolerance. I think I'd lose it If I didn't see Josh's Sexy ass every night

Why should their be a channel? that's awfully greedy. and In this crappy economy? that doesn't sound like a financially good decision. Plus, it would drive people crazy with the time slots of certain shows

I can see the complaints on the facebook page now. "OH GOD DO YOU HAVE TO AIR SALUTE YOUR SHORTS AT 4 AM? I DON'T HAVE A DVR"

reply

Of course people are going to be a little peeved when they are not even airing the shows they advertised. I feel like they advertised one thing and we got another. After a while there will be no more All That to air.

Well sure, All That is in the title but so is the 90s. I mean they air Kenan and Kel just as much as they air All That but it's not named after that show as well. All That is also a catchphrase to hook people in and help them remember the block. I don't think anyone wants to get rid of All That for good. Most people just want them to switch it up a little, it started out very promising. It was a pretty good list of shows they listed, but only a few of them have been aired more than once.

I mean they are not even doing the Upicks as frequently anymore which I felt gave the lineup a little more balance.

reply

I agree with you. I feel like they sort of hooked people in on false pretenses. Why advertise all these shows if you're going to barely air them?

reply

it's a collage honoring 90s nickelodeon, not false advertising

The 90s are all that Anthem promo doesn't say "We guarantee to air these all"

people misunderstand that it's a collage honoring 90s nick, not a promise to shove these shows down our throats all at once

They have to work out licensing from the creators and producers of these shows first. That takes time. Nickelodeon didn't make these shows.

These production studios such as the Tom lynch Company, Tollin Robbins productions, ETC., who made the shows have to license off their work first before Nickelodeon/teenNick can just put it on the air

and that's one MAJOR factor people fail to realize.

reply

I get that there are licensing issues, but one thing they fail to realize (actually I'm pretty sure they do realize which is why they included it in the montage, to draw more people to the block) is that many people are going to EXPECT to see the shows they advertise. It's only natural. Most people don't know the ins and outs of licensing, so they should be prepared for some backlash on that part. Just like when a product says "made with real fruit juice" people are going to expect the product to be pretty healthy, but that isn't always the case.

And the reasoning you just gave is why they can get away with this type of stuff and be able to proclaim, "well we didn't really say we would air so and so even though we benefited from people believing we would."

I actually didn't want all the shows shoved down my throat at once but they started out pretty diverse and sort of abandoned that. Aren't they shoving reruns of All That and Kenan and Kel etc down our throats? I don't think they even aired the movie and it seems like the same episodes of each show. That would be fine if the rest of the programming was more diverse but two episodes of one cartoon (a night) they've aired in recent years, or much more frequently makes everything seem rehashed.

Anyway I'm starting to repeat myself so I guess we'll just disagree. Also I like that Salute Your Shorts was on the lineup at one point, It leads me to believe they are listening a bit and moving in the right direction.

Never mind. I'm starting to feel the same way.

almost a month later after my last comment........ I'm starting to change my mind and agree with the others here.

All That - I never get tired of. Josh Server is just too f|_|cking sexy! I could never get tired of staring at him all day <3 . I can tolerate not having the music acts on all that, as much as it sucks. I've gotten used to it.

BUT The constant repeats of Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Doug and Hey Arnold are really starting to bore me. I wasn't as bored with them a month ago as I am now and I had a kind of "Be grateful for any 90s nick shows" Attitude. so please forgive me if I seemed a bit rude.

but.......... they really need to work better at sorting out what ever licenses with the production studios out and get more shows on the air. the same shows every night has become boring as hell.

it'll be a year in July - 2 and a half months and this block hasn't had much variety except on special holiday occasions and upick, which is now occasionally

Nickelodeon's obviously had money troubles. Their ratings suck. They cut all that's music acts out. They skip the Kenan & Kel episode with Tamia because she sings a snippet of her song "Imagination" at the end.

and they just wasted money having Dennis Haskins Play mr. Belding on victorious. That character is copyrighted, so you know they had to pay Saved by the bell's owners to license it. what a waste of money

I really think Nick has money troubles

reply

Thanks for apologizing. I really do appreciate it. And I'm glad you can kind of see things from a different perspective, about the programming. I agree with a lot of what you say in this post. I was like you at first, grateful that we could even see the shows, which is how I too got over the absence of the musical performances quickly. But as you said soon it will be a year and there is hardly any variety, they have actually gone backwards it seems.

Wow, I didn't even realize that is why they haven't aired the Tamia episode. It's one of my favorites.

You may be right about the money troubles. I'm not sure but I know they've sort of lost their focus following behind Disney.

I HATE the fact that they don't play the performances on All That.
Yes! Trust me this isn't coming from a place of malice. I've been pretty lenient on the block in general I think. The performances was a BIG deal for me, it's one of the best parts of watching the show and I was used to them airing them in reruns. But I still got over it! So I don't think I'm asking too much.

I was (and still remain) very positive about this 90s block but it doesn't mean I'm not going to have any criticisms especially when I see a pattern.

To be honest, sometimes watching 90s Nick is more fun on YouTube than on TeenNick
And that's what I'm afraid of. I like being able to see these shows on a big screen with good quality but I wish they had more variety! I get that every night or even every week they can't air every show or play it like the old block. But the last thing they want is for people to get bored with the block before it even gets started good. By the way I'm still very much enjoying occasionally watching All That/Kenan Kel etc but I'm not watching it nightly. In fact I've gone weeks not watching.
