Did Jamie Lynn Spears get on the show because of her sister?

It seems to me she did, because I remember watching her acts on the show and she flat out sucked at it. And I remember how Nickelodeon kept pushing her on the viewers in ads and TV spots for the show. She even got her own show and she still couldn't act. As much as the new cast don't hold a candle to the original cast, there was at least one thing about each new cast member that was redeemable. Spears had none. I know a lot of stars make it in Hollywood because of connections or a relative, like Emma Roberts. But they actually are good at acting to an extent. Spears has little to no talent what so ever. I'm kind of glad she got pregnant and quit acting.
