what killed the show

Think back to what Lisa said- "I believe it should always have a cast of younger kids, no older than 18." Cast members got older. Heck, Lori beth was 18 or 19 when the show started. she was bound to leave show after a few years. By the 6th season, alot of the original cast members were gone and the remaining original cast member was 20-21 years old. danny, leon, christy, amanda, nick, mark and gabriel were around 14-18 years old. all of them left after the 6th season and the show was briefly cancelled. then in 2002, the show was brought back for a 7 season with an entirely new cast. jamie lynn came in season 8 and left after season 9. shane and giovanni left after season 9. ryan and christina came in season 9. denzel and kianna came in season 10. the 4 remaining cast members from season 7 were 15-18 in season 10. all of the cast members wanted to do different things when the 10th season wrapped up. then the show ended for good because the producers were thinking " you know what, we have done 10 season of this.I think we should stop." know what I'm saying?

I think the new characters killed the show as well. Jamie Lynn could not act to me. It was like she was trying to be Amanda Bynes in a way.

I was still pretty young by the time season 7 started (like 9 or 10) I still found it funny on occasion (the slumber party skit actually made me laugh out loud, which the other skits hardly did, the tilt o' hurl was funny that time the guy caught Aaron Carter's puke and said he was going to sell it on Ebay).

What I think made it officially awful was when they added all those annoying 10 year kids. Christina (I couldn't believe she won that funniest kid in America contest!), Kianna (oh god she annoyed the piss out of me) and Ryan Coleman (sorry kid you just weren't funny on this. And you were apart of the Good Burger remake. Shame. on. You.)

I think the show should of ended after the 6th season. Not that the 6th season was bad or anything. I think it had a well off run for 6th seasons. Unlike Saturday Night Live which has been on for 36 years now. Despite 3 bad seasons. (6th season [1980-1981], 11 season [1986-1986], and 20th season [1994-1995])

Seasons 7-10 of All That, kind of reminds me of Saturday Night Live, when it had to start all over after Lorne Michaels and what was left of the original crew left after Season 5. Like SNL following the departures of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi come Season 5, Season 6 of All That had to deal without Kenan and Kel, who like Aykroyd and Belushi, were arguably the backbones of the show. I guess, Lisa Foiles and Jack DeSena were kind of to All That in the early 2000s to what Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopio were to the SNL of the early '80s. Basically, they were clearly the MVPs of the show during an otherwise dire period.

Nick Cannon killed the show. I always called him "Bizarro Kel" because thats generally what he was. Not sure whos boots he licked to get his status at Nickelodeon but obviously he put in overtime. The new kids sucked altogether, then they had the nerve to bring in the Spears kid who brought NOTHING to the series. And if Gabriel Iglasias is as old as you guys said he was when he joined the cast, thats definitely a series killer right there, they could've just aimed for an older demographic at that point.

Yeah Nick Cannon sucked. He had no good memorable charcters. Leon Frierson was better than him.

I did notice that when Kenan and Kel left, Kenan ALWAYS kept coming back for guest spots. I think its still kinda cool that he has some sort of loyalty to Nickelodeon even to this day he does advertisements and guest spots on shows.

That's what I liked about Josh Server. He was the only cast member to stay for the entire run of the original show, and even though he was a pretty funny guy, he never grew "too good" for Nickelodeon.

IMO, when they completely eliminated all the old cast from season 7.

What probably killed All That the first time was Kenan and Kel leaving. Lori Beth leaving hurt also but Kenan and Kel were the unofficial "stars" of the show. I suppose that Amanda Bynes would've taken the mantle as the de facto "star" of the show but she was already busy with her own show at this point. It kind of felt sad that Josh Server was the only one from the original cast left by Season 6. Had All That continued (i.e. not going on the year long hiatus) then I'm pretty certain that Josh and Amanda at the least, would've been gone.

As for the second time, I don't entirely have a clear-cut theory but it was probably a combination of the cast getting too old (Lisa, Jack, Chelsea, and Kyle were the only ones left from Season 7 come Season 10), Nickelodeon probably wanting to end the show on a proverbial "high note" (it was around this time that All That had its big tenth anniversary celebration), not having a lot of support from older fans (this translating into declining ratings), and Nick wanting to phase out the remainder of their '90s era programming.
