what killed the show

Think back to what Lisa said- "I believe it should always have a cast of younger kids, no older than 18." Cast members got older. Heck, Lori beth was 18 or 19 when the show started. she was bound to leave show after a few years. By the 6th season, alot of the original cast members were gone and the remaining original cast member was 20-21 years old. danny, leon, christy, amanda, nick, mark and gabriel were around 14-18 years old. all of them left after the 6th season and the show was briefly cancelled. then in 2002, the show was brought back for a 7 season with an entirely new cast. jamie lynn came in season 8 and left after season 9. shane and giovanni left after season 9. ryan and christina came in season 9. denzel and kianna came in season 10. the 4 remaining cast members from season 7 were 15-18 in season 10. all of the cast members wanted to do different things when the 10th season wrapped up. then the show ended for good because the producers were thinking " you know what, we have done 10 season of this.I think we should stop." know what I'm saying?

I think it ended because it just got really bad. Teh writing wasn't even funny anymore and the new kids didn't put in as much as the origional cast members did. Its a shame, I used to love this show as a kid I remember going to school and everyone would be quoting the lines and talking about the musical performances and then it just got bad.

:( I feel like I need a suit of armor just to post a message on these boards :(

I actually liked it up until the completely new cast came. I was fine with them older, in fact the new young kids annoyed me to no end.

Gooby - 4/10 (awesomely bad)
New Nightmare - 8/10

i think it started getting bad when lori beth denberg left

reply

I think it started getting back with all the old characters left. I truly didn't mind that Kenan, Kel, Josh, Lori, Danny, and whoever was past 20 years old they made the show funny and worthwile. I always loved the muscial performance.

I think his name was Leon? I didn't like him at all! I really liked Keanan, Kel, Lori Beth, Amanda, Josh, & Danny!

Agreed. I've been a big fan of Kenan and Kel since the show. Lori was awesome. Amanda is great. I had a massive crush on Josh and who didn't love Danny?

Like with many shows, All That really went into a downward spiral with the new cast. They didn't put as much effort into the laughs as the old cast did and the show stopped being funny. I'm not bashing the newer cast or anything. The Christine chick always bothered me. Lisa was cool,Kyle was in other shows so he was fine. I never really cared for Jamie. Jack was okay and that Giovanni kid was okay. (The cast wasn't that bad,but their effort sucked)

I couldn't stand Danny on this show. But I think the new cast destroyed the show.

reply

FOR SURE. Lori Beth MADE the show she was the best person on that show in my opinion

what gatomatt said was kind of right because Gabriel Iglesias was 24 when he was on the show

What killed the show was not canceling it after season 6.

The all new All That cast - A bad decision right from the start

6 seasons was enough to keep re-runs on to this day. Fresh Prince of Bel-air 6 seasons and is still airing to this day

A white kid? Ryan Coleman is black. Just because he was terrible doesn't mean we can make stuff up about him.

all that died because they couldn't find anyone funny enough to attempt to replace what Kel,Kenan,Lori Beth and Amanda did. They didn't have an actor/actress who could carry the show on their shoulders, like the original cast did all of the ones I mentioned especially Kel could carry the show by themselves and it would run for many years. Yes they lost heart when the original cast left but what killed them is they didn't have that big potential star there like in the original cast they had several. If you look at the original cast all of them had memorable and big characters they all were known for, the new cast didn't they weren't memorable but also the original cast is a hard act to follow. Kenan and Kel were untouchable all that and Drake and Josh failed miserably following them up after they left, to this day Nickelodeon is still trying to recapture the magic they had and they are losing to Disney badly.Back in the day Kenan and Kel alone owned Disney.

I thought the show started dying when the vets started leaving. Josh's departure was the final straw for me.

Plus, the writing got worse and the original audience for the show grew up. Of course we'll prefer the All That we grew up with to the newer one regardless of the quality.

Nick Cannon killed the show.

The show was great up to season 6(season 4 was my favorite), but that was the last good season IMO before they got rid of the cast and ushered in the new wave of so-called "funny" kids. Once they got rid of Amanda, Josh, Danny, and Christy, that was it for me :(

I watched this show as a kid in 94 up till maybe 96 or 7, and I didn't even realize it was still on TV after that. I can't believe they had a new cast. I'm sad to hear it went down the drains.

someonelse said it before, but they shouldn't have brought it back after the 6th season. There were a couple of decent sketches like the one of the girls doing a sleepover and jamie lynn as the grandma wasn't bad, but the overall the new cast were really annoying and terrible. I also hated when they redid Good Burger. That was the last straw for me.

the NEW CAST killed, SLAYED the show, i remember being so disappointed :[ they tried wayy too hard and were just not funny at all :'[

no one will ever be able to replace the original cast, danny, amanda, etc. :[ you know THE FUNNY PEOPLE.

I watched from 94 till 96-ish too, so I can't say a whole lot about the new cast. But one thing I noticed about was not just that they needed some younger kids because the original cast was getting older, but that it seemed like the average age of the cast went down by a few years. I was 12 when the show first started in 1994, and the only performer who wasn't older than me was Katrina, who was my age. The other kids were closer to 17/18. Then a couple years later they brought on Amanda, and she was really talented for someone that young. But then when they brought on the new cast, the average age was closer to 12 or 13 rather than 17 or 18. And most little kids that young don't have the comic sense or timing that Amanda had as a 10-year-old, and they just weren't as good. I don't know enough about the post-original cast years to know if the writing got any worse, but I saw a few of the Jamie Lynn episodes and it just felt like a totally different show.

I think the first cast members had true talent and awesome comedic timing, something that was really lacking with the later casts. They were good actors, but not good comedians. It suffered the same fate as SNL when they got too big for their own good. The other thing is that they were all funny on their own, but not as a group, which is what comedy is all about. It's like So Random is now. It's all, "Oh look at me! I'm being funny!" They're either trying too hard or not trying enough.

reply

I didn't really feel any group dynamic with the newer kids on the show. I think that's what killed it.
