Older Episodes Had a Urban, Multi-Cultural, Hip-Hop Vibe

Somebody pointed this out in another post and I had to comment on it. This is probably one of the reasons why the old All That can't be touched and was so cool. They weren't glammed up kids TRYING to be funny. They were your average mid 90's urban type kids that were EXTREMELY funny. I mean the look of the original cast from the later casts are like night and day.

Definitely such a genuinely dope crop of kids, the show started truly as an 'In Living Color' for kids. The cast changed as culture changed, it's amazing that there was an African-American majority in season 5 and then as the show transformed you just saw the kids getting glammed from a younger age and not having the same wit and charm as the previous casts.

I do not blame the new cast as much for the different style of the later seasons, it's that the writers were trying to do a more cartoonish feel to the show because a lot of sitcoms that aired around 2000 (the year the original cast was very much gone from the show) were doing more wild and silly humor such as Malcolm in the Middle and Even Stevens, but it didn't work in this format because the show revolved around skits and really restricted much creativity.
It works better when you have a show with recurring characters and story arcs. In a skit, it just does not work that way.
