Off topic, other animated MTV show...

Does anyone remember an animated show with this almost super-hero looking guy who wore a purple suit and like bunny ears, and there was this blond girl who had a bunny when she was little but it died because she kept it in a box under her bed... Hmm... I hope someone can help me with the name of this show because I sound a little crazy right now

The show your thinking of...I think..Is The Maxx. It was on MTV oddities and was based on an Image comic book by the same name. I would rather they had brought this back than Aeon Flux.

reply

The Maxx instead of Aeon? What are you smoking? The Maxx was alright but could never hold a candle to Aeon! Maybe Aeon was a little too cerebral for you...could'nt keep up?

i loved watching Aeon when i was 7. my favorite cousin at the tiem would pop the tape in and wed sit and watch it....i think i liked it cause it seemed 'grown up' at the time. same with mortal kombat...*shrug* now i dont talk to that cousin...

Every show was the same. Trevor wants to do something, Aeon Wants to stop him from doing it. Throw in a sex reference or two close with a vague ending and bang, there ya go.

The shorts were much better than the 30 minute episodes, at least the shorts has a story.

The Maxx was another great animated show on MTV. I think it possessed a lot of genuinely interesting qualities. It was cerebral, but not in the aspect of admiring sci-fi or espionage. It instead dealt with all manners of the Human Psyche and how people cope with loss, guilt and pain. It is interesting in a psycho analyitcial level. I did find the show bleak at times but this was balanced well by the occassional rantings of Maxx. The video that was released was not the full season, however you can pick up a the comic which is pretty much the same (you just don't get to hear Maxx's twisted voice). You can get the whole season across two large graphic novels which is a good read. All in all, a decent show and worth adding to your viewing library. I am not sure if there is a DVD released though but if you can get a hold of the series somehow I think most people will enjoy it. Please don't compare it to Aeon Flux as they are totally different genres and deal with totally different issues.

I loved The Maxx, and Aeon Flux... both of them were out on MTV when I was in middle school, both were incredibly cerebral, and hit me right at the point in my life where I was ready to handle stuff like that. While I preferred The Maxx, I'm overjoyed there's going to be an Aeon movie. They were two totally different types of things, so saying one is better than the other is stupid--It's like arguing who is better, Barry Sanders or Larry Bird?

Anyway.. can't wait for the movie... and maybe if it's successful, The Maxx to follow? One can only hope...

I have a question as well. There was another cartoon that came on MTV with a purple alien and a dude with a rather large cranium. I remember it coming on Oddities as well.

You're thinking of The Head. That was the best of all 3 in my opinion (Aeon Flux, The Maxx, The Head.)

reply

the head was definately the best. i just bought it on dvd at a comicon, and i watch it all the time.

reply

yeah i watched Aeon when it was on i always did enjoy the shorts more so than the series its self i think with the time and period that mtv was then it just couldn't grab a good enough fan base to make a good long running story
but the Maxx is amazing the art on hte show and all hte dialoge is jsut wonderful and beautiful i picked it up at a con a few years back and i watch it all the time i wish i could get the Head on dvd but i have had no luck
which con did you get it from?
