madsen was a good choice for virgil

i'll admit, tombstone is a better movie. but i have to say that madsen was a good choice for virgil. i say this based on physical resemblence. virgil was a dark haired and stocky guy, just like madsen is. grant it, sam elliott played him better, he is a better actor. but madsen resembled him more.

Actually, of the 5 full Earp Brothers, only the youngest, Warren, was a brunette. James, Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan were all blonde- haired and blue eyed. Wyatt and Morgan looked enough alike to be twins, in spite of the age difference. I agree that Madsen was a excellent choice to play Virgil.

Blonde hair??? Not from the pictures I've seen. Maybe when they were little boys but I do not think they were blonde.

Check the research. Read the family accounts, and descriptions of the Earps left by people who knew them. Look at un-retouched photos. The photographic processes available in the latter part of the 19th century made people's hair look darker. Plus, many of the Earp family photos (as well as many others) have been poorly retouched over the years, and the light hair has been darkened. James, Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan Earp were blondes. Only Warren was a true brunette. For that matter, Doc Holliday was also described many times as "ash blonde".

He's alright, but he's no Sam Elliott. Just compare the scenes where they say the line "Don't worry, I still got one good arm to hold you with." Madsen is just not into it, and Elliott just melts your heart.

I generally like Madsen.

He was terrible in this.

Only glaringly bad performance in this, to my mind.
