One bizarre thing that would have made this a better movie...

No wolves.

Is it just me or was the movie going along just fine until Will started turning in to a wolf? I understand it to the extent that having wolf blood in him caused an increase in his aggression and forced him to become more dominant, but running around in the park, killing a bunch of stereotypical thugs in the park, urinating on a co-worker's shoes? To me, and me alone maybe, it detracted from a really good story they had going.

When Stewart turned in to a wolf, the movie took a decided turn for the worse. It got dumb and boring with a goodie-vs-baddie plot that was ridiculously simple in contrast to everything that had built up to that point.

When Laura became a wolf, I couldn't give a crap what happened to any of them. By that stage it felt like the writers were just pulling names out of a hat to see who would become a wolf next.

Huh? The movie didn't even start until Will turned into a wolf. That's when he turned the tables on everyone.

HOWEVER, when Stewart got bitten, it became a boring dogfight. He should have stayed human and been victimized by Will's wolf-like business practices, not his fangs.

I know what you mean about the movie not starting, but... I dunno. I'm not explaining myself very well. There was Will, a successful editor who just learned that his company was being bought out by a ruthless money-making conglomerate. He was either going to be fired or shipped off to an area of the world completely inhospitable to a man of his age. He just didn't have any fight in him and this takeover was going to roll right over him.

Added to that, he had personally trained up Stewart, a conniving little s.o.b. who was primed and ready to jump right in to Will's shoes and take credit for his hard work. When Will FIRST gets bitten by the wolf and starts to become more aggressive, that's where the movie hit it's stride. The movie was even called "Wolf", not "Wolves".

I dunno, I just preferred all the infighting and back-stabbing as opposed to two CGI fluffballs bouncing all over the place like a pair of idiots.

I sort of agree. The first half where Jack gets his powers is my favorite. I don't like the second half much, but it's soemthing they sort of had to do I suppose. Gotta have some sort of climax. I did like the very end though when Pfeiffer transforms. If the movie had not taken such a serious turn though, it probably would have ended up being a little too much like Teen Wolf.

The movie would been better if they got rid of Michelle Pfeiffer's character she has no purpose.

Love interests never has a purpose. They seem to think it's not a happy ending unless the hero has someone to have sex with at the end. I liked her though so had no problem with her in it. Also the whole alpha/beta wolves competing for mates thing, so her presence fits.

I see your point. After being bitten Will was on top of his game with his new found business acumen during the day, but the nighttime animal predatory behaviour was the trade off. Will also told doctor Alezais he feared there would be a price to pay and this was it. So I think the 'full wolf' thing was inevitable, but I agree it could have been handled a bit better.

Well, yes the first 2/3 of the movie - the shenanigans and power plays in the office - were sharp, smart and frequently amusing. Unfortunately, when things take an animalistic turn towards the end, stuff gets formulaic and more than just a little bit silly. The territorial pissing was great though.
