Enjoyed it --but Joe Pesci was miscast.

Does anyone else think that Joe Pesci was miscast in this movie? I didn't find anything he was saying believable. I'm not saying they necessarily should have cast Robin Williams, but he would have been a huge step up from Pesci. In all other respects though, I enjoyed the movie.

personally, i think its pescis best performance. i like seeing him act restrained for once instead of over the top crazy like he always plays. love this film. 9 out of 10.

I disagree completely

I thought he was great in this film, in fact i can't imagine anyone else playing that character. It was a refreshing change from his normal hard man mafia films.

very touching at the end too

He was great in here, IMHO. I agree this was his BEST performance.

I like Pesc, but I dont think it was Pesci's best performance. I thought he carried his own and wasnt helped by being teamed with brutal actor Brendan Frasier, but it wasn't close to his best performance.

I'm watching this for the first time, and I like his performance...it's very refreshing seeing him play a good guy and not a robber or a crazy mafia member with a short fuse and an itchy trigger finger (he really scared me in "Goodfellas"!)

sorry, but I have to go with Pesci,as stated before the only thing I have ever seen Robin Williams do are those "over the top" characters and nothing else, which would have been wrong for the character of Simon in this film, I mean it wouldn't have been any different than having Fozzie Bear in the role, since Williams is nothing more than a human version of Fozzie--sure he's funny but I still have yet to see him do something with broader emotions other than just humor.

Wow have you never seen Good Will Hunting?

I agree. Miscast is my vote. I just didn't buy it. The speech in the classroom? Uhm, no.

Joe Pesci is a complete and total caricature of what a alcoholic homeless guy would be. Terrible acting.
