'3 Months' Comment From Monty?

When Monty told Simon's son near the end that he met Simon "3 months ago", did that seem a little short to anyone else?

When Monty lost his paper and found Simon in the library's basement burning it, I always thought it was October or November. When they went to visit Simon's son, it was clearly spring due to the weather, and also because senior's thesis were due right before graduation. I always took it when Simon died to be the end of April or beginning of May, as the group graduated shortly thereafter.

I think it would've been more 6 months than 3, but IDK. Thoughts?
