Boy-o-boy this movie sucked!

Not as loathsome as Patch Adams, but my goodness this is some overly-sentimental crap. And politically naive... the Pesci character attempting to one-up Gore Vidal, a real life man of letters who probably bit off part of his tongue holding in a cutting reply).

I agree with you.

It should be sold with the other 1994 film, "Reality Bites" as a "self-righteous, self-important, pretentious" DVD two-pack.

reply

Yeah!
As a movie, it wasn't SO bad… (I.e. good acting, production values, ect, ect, ect)
But the thing that killed me, was that it was billed as a comedy, packaged with a REALLY FUNNY movie (The Super)!

This was a way pretentious film, that takes everything WAY too seriously.
I have not seen Reality Bites, but I will throw my hat in with the above critic. Had I not expected a comedy, perhaps I would have found this movie a more rewarding viewing experience.
No such luck.

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

LOL I so agree with you. I was 18 years old when I saw both of those movies in the theater and I thought they were so awesome. Now 21 years later I see them as complete rubbish! Talk about trying to be way too hip and cool. The movie is annoyingly self righteous. I wanted all the characters, especially Fraser, to just shut the hell up and get over themselves. I really did like these movies at one time. As Pesci says the view is a lot different going out than coming in.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Lol. Look - it's a deeply flawed, cheesy, ridiculously earnest feel-good 90s 'message' movie. And that's glorious! It's just harmless nostalgia and it's not trying to hurt anyone. Don't make fun of the retarded kid.

If I never see this piece of crap again, it will be too soon.

So I take it this is a thread the believes in the "Natural Aristocracy" as purposed by the Federalists that didn't believe we needed government checks and a Bill of Rights to ensure them and not the anti-Federalists who wanted to ensure that the power of the government remained in the hands of the people?

With no room for the cross-section, people like Adams, that knew that a confederation would never work but still wanted a Federation flexible enough to correct itself when the reigns of power were wrapped in the hands of a consolidated few?

The Harvard bum had a point, as much of one as Gore Vidal had, possibly more as, time and again it has been proven that "Democracy is the truth of Monarchy, but Monarchy is not the truth of Democracy."

"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop."

reply

No. This is the quintessential 90s college movie. And hunky cast as well.

Too funny
