Mia Farrow looks too young

I understand that she was actually 59 yrs old when she played this part , but whether genes or good lighting are to be credited, she looked about the same age as Natasha Richardson. It was distracting to have her referred to some some sort of old maid and we as viewers were supposed to accept she was roughly the same age of all the other old biddies when she looked lovely & about 30 yrs old.

Perhaps it worked in the storylines favour. I wouldn't have guessed the ending simply because of the point you make. But at 59 years of age it was credible - although I would agree you would expect an Irish woman of the 1920's to look a little more weather beaten than the lovely Miss Farrow!

You know, I am not a fan by any stretch of Mia Farrow, but she was wonderful in this. Everyone was, but she had to sell a critical part of the story just through her performance and she pulled it off. I agree that she looked a lot younger than her age in this one, but I also think it was necessary to making the ending work.

According to IMDb, Mia Farrow was born Feb 7, 1945, which would make her 49 in 1994 when WP was made. Natasha Richardson was 31.

Then that worked out just right for the film. It's entirely credible that a 17 year old would fall pregnant.
Never say Never.

Trivia
The movie's writer, Irish playwright Hugh Leonard, originally wrote the part of Miss O'Hare especially for Maureen O'Sullivan, but she gracefully reneged because of her advanced age and dwindling stamina. Her daughter Mia Farrow ultimately took over the role
