My favorite movie as a kid

When I was a wee little sprout, this was one of my favorites. I would watch it (on VHS, ofcourse) like, every night. I was really young then, and now I don't even remember the general plot XD

What does a scanner see? Into the head? The heart? Does it see into me? Clearly? Or darkly?
