The nanny was irritating

And the kids spoke words that don't come out of kids' mouths: "She still puts you down and I don't like it" says the daughter to the mom about Grandma. This movie means well, but misses.

Why wouldn`t she say that ?

If you mean she acted more mature then her age would indicate then I would disagree because alot of children that grow up in families exposed to various problems tend to "grow up" to quickly.

The line rings untrue. I recognize she would be forced to grow up faster, it's just the line. I do like the message of the movie, the recovery process being about taking responsibility, not someone else taking care of you (for their own agenda as well).

I agree with you, a lot of the lines were obvious script-writer lines to enhance the story. Such deep, somber words from such serious little girls!

She's a pretty astute little girl during the rest of the film, so it doesn't take much of a stretch to envision that she's aware of how her grandmother belittles her mother.

How was she irritating? Too meny ppl take advantage of young girls and think they can treat them as they like, take out their frustration on them just because they look after their kids.

reply

How was the nanny irritating? I didn't think so.

reply

I imagine the little girl was simply repeating what she heard her mother say many times, i.e., grandma puts me down.
