underated?

I know many people don't care for this but it personally my favorite Wes Craven movie.

Mr. Shue, let me be your Britney

I think it's a cracking film, was probably ahead of it's time being that it was before Scream and co brought back horror with a meta self referential twist.

reply

It's one of my favorites too. I think it's pure genius! I mean who makes a movie based on the real people who create a movie? It's wonderful.

reply

its one of the best Freddy sequels no denying, but IMO I find the movie to be little overrated, many people think this is the best sequel but I disagree, Dream warriors is easily the best sequel in the franchise, by far the most creative sequel.

reply

I like 1, 2, 3, and New Nightmare. That's the franchise for me.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

reply

Same for me. 4-6 don't exist to me. They ruined a great character by turning him into a caricature of himself. That's why I love New Nightmare, it blasts those sequels hard.

Haters gonna hate

There isnt anything wrong with funny freddy as long as its done well also nightmare 3 changes freddy as well so im surprised you like that one because its also cheesy an has funny freddy the entire second half not to mention nancy dose nothing in the film an its heather worst acting of the franchise its the best sequel but its part of the same mold of 4-6 its just better balanced nancys death in 3 is very stupid an she dies like a moron lol I like 3 but nancy is useless in that film cravens fav sequel was dream master as for this one its not part of the franchise its a stand alone but its a better movie then 4- 6 but its not a nightmare flick

Punctuate much?

they made a thrilling, dark, scary film with this film that totally changes the tone and atmosphere of these movies. ti was a great change up and experiment like jason goes to hell: the final friday.

it's one of the most original, genius, inventive films ever made. scream gets so much credit for being the first meta, self referential horror film but it wasn't this was 2 years before scream and it was more daring than scream in that instead of just the characters all knowing about horror movies the characters are actors. and it always feels authentic and realistic with the sets and the hollywood talks amongst the main characters and wes craven.

there have been plenty of movies where the characters know about and talk about other movies. like reservoir dogs talks about madonna, and they are before scream so it's not like scream was the first movie to reference or talk about horror movies in general, but it was the first horror movie to specifically talk about horror movies as far as halloween and friday the 13th.

for example tom hanks' character talks about horror movies, the psychological thrills people get while watching horror movies in he knows you're alone.

i think the first movie to be meta about horror movies is student bodies. but it's a comedy. so the first horror movie to be meta about horror movies might be jason goes to hell: the final friday.

reply

I agree. It is number three of my all-time favorite horror movies and I think it is the most underrated sequel ever made. Wes Craven redeemed his creation with a very intelligent script. It has aged well (despite a few poor special effects) and still is frightening. I wish someone would release it in Blu Ray on its own.

Question......howcome people are stuck on 1 thing ? Meaning, "monkey see monkey do" ??

EVERYBODY is stuck on 1-3. Then they say, that's it.

To be honest and YES I know my $ hyt.... 1 was a classic 2 was stupid and didn't live by the original roles and had too many gay undertones, which YES even if you're not homophobic, it's an annoying movie !! 3 finally brought back the rules and very entertaining 4 is 1 of my MOST favorite and "fast paced", compared to the others 5 The world could've DEFINITELY done without 6 I gave it a pass, because Billy Zane's cute sister was in it and it went a hint deeper into Freddy, but it still was a "guilty pleasure" 7 New Nightmare, PURE GENIUS !! WHO would've thought of making a movie with the director showing his face, which fans didn't know what he looked like..we didn't have the internet...plus Heather was back and "BETTER looking" then how unattractive they made her in part 3....Miko the son who played Heather's son was good...I thought the child was possessed because of his maturity to carry this movie - Kindergarten Cop....and Pet Cemetary. So for anyone to put any hatred and flaws on this movie, YOU truly need to get your head examined or get your Star Wars/Norman Bates lovin' a$$ kicked = Sorry TRUTH

PS - If you want to bash a DUMB movie....bash the Friday The 13th Series and bash the 1st Friday, since it was sooooooooo beyond stupid and the geeky people who keep saying "We empathized with Jason's Mom"....Ohhhhhhhhhhhh SHUT UP and make some logic *grunt*

All of your opinions are not great and they have nothing to do with the person you replied to’s comment.

it's genius and ahead of it's time. before it there had never been a movie where the characters are playing themselves but not in the way it usually is, because they're not playing themselves as actors, they are playing themselves as themselves. it's more specific here than in most movies where it says in the cast listing herself or himself. also the difference that is big is when this happens in most movies they play bit parts, cameos, but this was the first time where this happens and the actors have the main parts.

reply

i'd say overrated. it's ok.

reply

The second best Freddie movie. So underrated.

reply

It's very underated

6.4 on IMDB sounds reasonable. It's the third highest ranked in the series next to Dream Warriors at 6.6 and part 1 at 7.5. Only one star least than the original, sounds about right to me.

The kid Dylan kind makes it hard for me to watch. I didn't care for his acting at all otherwise I'd rate it a bit higher. Maybe a 7.

Freddy's Dead, now that's underated! 4.9 on IMDB? That's the lowest ranked nightmare out of all of them and I think it's actually pretty good.

reply

very underrated i liked this film

I love this one! It’s my second favorite in the Nightmare series. The first one being my favorite
