Fans on Freddy overload

Serious question here.... Why didn't New Nightmare stay in theaters longer and earn more? You'd think being the 10th anniversary of the first NOES and the fact that Craven himself directed and wrote this that die-hard Freddy fans would come running. Were people just burnt out on Nightmare sequels by the time this one came out?

I don't get it either.

I saw this when I was 12 years old with two friends of mine, and we were actually sold tickets and not denied due to our age lol. Most of the movie I loved, and the audience was nearly packed and everyone else loved it too.

Maybe the marketing wasn't big enough, or maybe it was too sophisticated in tone for the usual fans to want to show up.

From my view, it has some flaws, such as the average finale, the group of Freddy's approaching the highway, and one or two small nitpicks, but I still love it!

Heather's TV interview is a classic scene, as is when she meets with Wes at his mansion, and the overall vibe and dialogue is terrific.

Burn out and disregard for continuation. No matter how good a film is it would drive fans away if their favorite characters don't return. Freddy's dead was a faliure because of that
