Hard to watch

Although it's a decent enough movie, "Wagons East" is a difficult movie to watch knowing that John Candy, probably one of the most beloved comic character actors of his time, died while making it.

I was a huge John Candy fan growing up and felt as if I had lost a favorite uncle when I heard he had died. His movies will always hold a special place for me and I watch them as often as I can. The deaths of Candy, Belushi, Farley, and Hartman were some of the biggest blows ever experienced by the comedy community and one can only wonder what they may have accomplished and what more laughs we may have had had they survived.

I fully agree that this film is hard to watch, particularly the scenes with John Candy. I did get a few laughs out of this movie, but more than anything, it made me depressed when you consider how John Candy looked in the film and what it ultimately represented for his fans.

Regardless, I'm glad we have the great works of John Candy, John Belushi, Chris Farley and Phil Hartman to remind us of their comic talents. I don't see a lot of comic actors today with their flair or diversity.

I feel the same way about "The Shootist." Just can't bring myself to watch The Duke's last movie. Candy was a favorite of mine, as well.

John Candy was so great at comedy and everyone knows all his loveable characters. It really was a tragic loss for the arts losing him. Planes trains and automobiles and uncle buck all time favorites!!! No one is like him and it really is sad he went way to young. I wouldve loved to see what he would be bringing to the screen all these years since he's been gone.

No, it is sad that this was his last film and not some masterpiece like Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
