Questions About This Movie *MAJOR SPOILERS*

OK, I just watched this. It wasn't a bad movie, it wasn't a great movie. It was way too derivative for me and a few things really bothered me.

Totally ignoring the fact that the Aswang of folklore is a shape-shifter who prefers the form of an old ugly woman, my big question is, why were the family of vampires white instead of Filipino? Shouldn't Cupid have been the vampire and the family her servants, instead of the other way around?

Also, WTF was with the baby at the end being an Aswang? The mother was no relation to the family and nor was the biological father.

Finally, what was with the kid's eyes? None of the other vampires were blind.

It was mentioned in the movie that most children die when the Aswang feeds on it, but if the child survives, then the child will become an Aswang as well. This explains why the baby became an Aswang and why the family are all Aswangs after living for a time in the Phillipines. It seems strange that all three of the family are Aswangs, but maybe an Aswang can give birth to other Aswangs as well.

Regarding the child's eyes, all the Aswangs' eyes became white when they were about to feed.

we initially planned to do a "pre-quel" to Aswang which explained why all of the family were Aswang. They were a family from the states living on a lumber plantation in the South Phillipines. The "villians" in Aswang were going to be the victims of the prequel, and become Aswang one at a time. In the un-shot opening scene that is on the DVD in script form, Dr. Harper is in a jungle club/bar. We were planning on having Peter Null in this scene, at the same age he would be in Aswang (figuring that they didn't age as fast, or at all). We never figured out the details much more than that, as Aswang performed less than spectacularly and that was that.
