Enjoyable film, AWFUL soundtrack!

I remember watching this film 20 years ago and really enjoying it. I later read the novel on which is based, and loved it. Recently I thought I would watch it again, so that my husband who had never heard of it could watch it.

We both enjoyed the film, but the soundtrack was appalling! I didn't remember that from my first viewing, but this time it was distracting, had nothing to do with the scenes or the film... I'm not sure who thought that music would work well with this movie!

Anybody else agrees?
