Selected in the ALL-TIME 100 best films by Time

I was really suprised that the Time Magazine's movie critics selected Drunken Master II in the top 100 movies of all-time considering that some masterpieces like Seven Samurai or Apocalypse Now are not even on it. But, I think this is very good publicity for this great film.

I think they just wanted to choose films from different genres. You know, there was already Yojimbo from Kurosawa on the list. I like Seven Samurai more, but whaddya gonna do about it? The Lord of the Rings trilogy was there also, with no reasonable explanation.

I was also surprised to see Drunken Master II on the list as well, while at the same time, not surprised. While I love Yojimbo, and so many movies owe respect to it and it is an inspiration for countless movies, it is (IMO) a completely different film than Drunken Master II. When it comes to entertainment value, comedic timing, kung fu speed, and pure choreography, that movie deserves to be on the Time top 100. I really liked the Time critics' choices, because they didn't go with the status quo like most do. You can apply the same surprise you had with another one on the list. For example, when it comes to mob movies, most lists just have the Godfather and Goodfellas on it. Time also added Miller's Crossing, which I have so much respect for and think (big time IMO) is even better than the Godfather movies. Was anybody a little irked about Finding Nemo though? I was... Also, The Fly? Really?! I like it, but in no way is it anywhere NEAR a top ANYTHING list. Sorry, I'm venting now. But seriously. Drunken Master II definately deserves to be on the list.

OMG, How I love this movie. I saw this movie a while back and was blown away. Time made an awesome choice by choosing this film to be on its top 100. I'm glad to see it up there with the Godfather and Citizen Kane. It really is a wonderful film, that generations from know will still enjoy it. Screw the new stuff that Chan puts out, its crap, this is where he really shines. I think we should sit him down and make him watch this, I don't think he even knows he played in one of the best martial arts film, no scratch that, one of the best film ever. And yeah I agree, the Fly as no bussiness being on that list, the story was intreasting, but come on, they went a little overboard with that one.

Cheers ^_^

The Fly definitely belongs on that list. It's certainly on mine.

I disagree, The Fly is a fantastic film. Horror and comedies are always underrated and getting undeserved scorn.
