Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee would lose

All Hollywood and Hong Kong movie martial arts is just show. It would never work in real fight. No one in UFC uses it because 90% of all real fights end up on the floor. Look on you tube and you'll find a handful of videos of kung fu "masters" getting schooled in the art of grappling. In all fairness, knowing kung fu would help you in fighting 3 guys at the same time but not one on one.

how about ong bak im pretty sure a one on one wit his style (similar to kung fu) would put u in teh hospital

Dude UFC is not where the best martial arts are portrayed, hell its more like a brawling ground than anything else. i'd like to see you stand up to somebody who knows some proper hapkido, you would get ur ass handed to AND have about 4 broken bones...thats why you dont see people in ufc with martial arts...if somebody got Tito ortiz or whoever else in a fingerlock then twisted his wrist and flipped him tito ortiz wouldnt get up cause his hands would be broken and if he landed on his neck like most people who dont know how to roll out of a flip he would be close to dead...

UFC, martial arts competitions, movies and a real life street fight situation are ver very different.

Even the owner of UFC stated Bruce lee as the father of MA, what more do you want?

reply

Yep, I completely agree. In a real fight, each person is trying to either disable their opponent or outright kill them. UFC is unable to portray real martial arts which are focused on killing intent. Nerve strikes for example could potentially disable, paralyze, or kill a person. I like UFC, but you can't watch it thinking that these athletes are anything but sport competitors.

Some of it will work and does work in a real fight. It comes to knowing what technique to use in what situation and to react quickly. Bruce Lee looked into what is effective and what is not when he formulated Jeet Kune Do.

First of all UFC is not the same as realistic street fighting. UFC is a sport for TV entertainment purposes. Real fights have no rules and are far more dirty. Due to the popularity of UFC, fighting has evolved as people copy what they see in UFC, but that was the also case with Martial arts movies and even WWF/WCW.
Also 90% of fights do not end up on the ground...they end up with one person on the ground. Grappling skills and ground fighting are useless against a knockout punch, which is all it takes. In real fighting it's not a common sight to see two guys wrestling on the ground as in UFC, usually one will be on the ground and the other will be kicking him.
knowing kung fu would help you in fighting 3 guys at the same time but not one on one.

It depends on the style. Styles like Wing Chun, Choi Li Fut and Sanda are effective in real fights.
