The song "i'll take you there" plays when they are taking the little car trip. I know the original is sung by the staple sisters, but who sings this one? please help :)
Thanks.

reply

the song's performed by "general public"

don't ask me who those guys are, though ;)

General Public is an awesome alternative/new wave group from Great Britain, who had a number of hits in the early- and mid-80's. Their lead singer Dave Wakeling was also a member of the Jam, and other members of the group were in other well-known British new wave bands in the early 80's.

reply

yeah they sang SAVE IT FOR LATER and of course TENDERNESS...a staple 80s song

reply

Actually, Dave Wakeling was a member of the English Beat, not The Jam. The other singer in General Public, Ranking Roger, was also a member of the English Beat. Two other members of the Beat went on to form Fine Young Cannibals. And thus concludes our music history lesson for today.

And don't forget that Dave Wakeling, solo, did the theme song to the film "She's Having A Baby."

reply

the name of the band is 'the beat' they added 'english' to them (other examples charlatans uk, london suede) they only reason for the identifying countries tag is because there's always some no-known american band with the same name so it doesn't infringe. in every other country they are known as 'the beat', the charlatans' and 'suede' gosh darnnit:)

>^..^<

i am standing in front of books, please don't let them eat me
