Baldwin should've quit rather than ask for the gay stuff to be removed.

There's no integrity as an actor to sign on for a part and then undermine the entire project by demanding that the gay material be cut out. What a prick. I used to like this movie until I heard writer/director Andrew Fleming saying Baldwin begged him not to use the gay stuff they shot. They why the f*uck did he take the part? They could've used someone with more balls and left the film with its integrity.

I completely agree. Especially since everyone knows it was there and its just acting yeesh. I really enjoyed the movie but I would have loved more gay stuff!

reply

Haha, that's pretty funny. Especially since he's become even more conservative these days.. I bet he hates this movie now.

reply

He's disowned it.

I knew Baldwin was skeptical about gay material even before I saw the movie; they are all douches, as far as I've seen and heard.

Anyway, yes, I agree, they should have gotten someone else. Even though I did enjoy Baldwin for his part, I think more gay material would have made the film even more enjoyable and not just because I would have liked to see it but because I thought it would have made the script better and all the relationships stronger.

???
Was there any gay material in the first place?

Refresh my memory please, somebody!

The scenes with them naked in the same shot, like the final threesome where Charles puts his hand on Baldwin's butt, though that might have been a body double, and the scene at the lake.

The dancing on the bed with Baldwin's pants pulled down.

The humping scene on the couch.

The scene where they almost kiss.

That's about all the gay material I can remember for right now.

I'd rather be disemboweled with a toothbrush.

reply

OOPS.

Guess I need to watch it again; it's been too long.

Yeah that's right. We should be more tolerant towards bigots.

There is also mention of a deleted one-on-one scene with the guys — and a deleted shot (during the final threesome) where Charles and Baldwin kiss.

I have to agree with the OP. It reminds me of a (much) later interview with Chris Potter. After he'd finished his storyline on "Queer as Folk" he was talking about "having to" kiss Hal Sparks.

They both knew that the material was there. Why accept the part at all if it was so distasteful to them?

reply

Alec did the scout master/ canteen boy skit on SNL. Alec is pretty versatile, from what I hear.

reply

Seriously. If they're all going to have sex together and clearly Eddy has the hots for Stuart how can they not show them kiss at least once? I always felt that was lacking in this movie and know realizing Baldwin asked it be removed is really ridiculous. Don't sign on the for the film then!

Stephen Baldwin must really hate this movie now. He has been a born again Christian since 2001.

reply

He's disowned it.

Being completely realist about it... the script might have changed after he accepted the part. It wouldn't be the first time that a movie started with one script and ended with a slight or even completely different turn by the time the movie was completed.

If that wasn't the case then it was stupid to take the part in the first place... but I'm not sure if the script he signed on for was what they ended with so I'll reserve condemnation.
