ROTTENTOMATOES RATING 16% ???

16% ? isnt that extremely harsh? after all its an action flick not shawshank redemption, and as such it was actually well made and entertaining, what more can you ask for these days?

reply

Yeah, you are absolutely right. I was actually amazed when I saw the low rating here. 5.2 is outrageous. It is a funny and exciting action flic! I would have given it a 7.0 at least.

reply

i'm not going to offend or criticise either of you for your views, but, really? It's pretty terrible...

Exactly, that was very entertaining action flick!

I think what happens is people compare it to brilliant movies instead of judging it on its own merit, and this causes people to over-criticize a decent movie.

That is super harsh. I figured this would have at least a 6.2. It's funny and action-packed, and 10x better than most action flicks today.

reply

Sometimes collectively they can be a little harsh, which seems to be the case here. But probably should add that the movie tanked pretty badly.🐭

reply

Rottentomatoes doesn't know shit, and neither do IMDb reviewers.

reply

It's not a very good movie though. . .

5,5 is ridiculously low rating. I'd give it 8/10. Some people say it stinks, but won't say what's so stinky about it. Is it the lead, Charlie Sheen? I thought he was hilarious. Is it because they made fun of him and americans don't like it, when their leading man is made to look slow and stupid?

reply

I watched the film last night and mostly just found it dull and uninteresting. It starts out fairly well but becomes less and less interesting after the first 30 minutes or so.

The story itself is not especially compelling, Sheen's character is not interesting, and for an action movie it has astonishingly few fun action set pieces.

Even though it was not itself an especially good film, if I had to choose, I'd have to go with 1994's other skydiving movie: Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes. That film has its own problems but overall it gave me more reasons to care.

reply

Drop Zone is definitely better. Terminal Velocity is very mediocre. Just watched it on Hoopla for free. A lot of good movies to choose from on there.

reply

The biggest problem with Drop Zone is that the plot becomes increasingly murky and illogical as the film goes on. The first 30 minutes or so--especially the jailbreak scene on the plane--are really good, but it slowly slides downhill from there. Also, the mid-90s soundtrack is fucking awful.

Still, I found certain elements of it a lot of fun, like the aforementioned jailbreak scene, Yancy Butler's character, and especially Gary Busey as the villain.

I could see myself watching Drop Zone again one day. I have an exceptionally high level of doubt that I'll ever watch Terminal Velocity again though.

To its credit, however, Terminal Velocity does have a much cooler poster.
