Why change the name of the prince?

The ballet has Odette/Odile but the prince is Siegfied not Derek. Why change this?

Derek is a cool name and Seigfried is not.

I can argue with that. Derek is a dork name. Siegfried is a heroic name from Teutonic mythology. They should have left it alone.

The worst translation of names is the French one : juliette and arthur. But remember this was dubbed in 1994, and we changed things since. We even translated some names in Harry Potter...

The changes for Harry Potter make sense most of the time like Tom Jedusor for Tom Riddle. Arthur and Juliette doesn't make any sense at ALL and is very confusing (if anything).
