How come nobody understands the title?

"The Most Dangerous Game"
Its not a "game" that you play, it means "game" as in an animal that you hunt. The most dangerous game is not "the sport of hunting for humans" the most dangerous game is _man_.
This movie is not about "Surviving the Game" its about _Being_ the Game.

Ok, fair enough. I don't think it was intended that way, but I like your interpretation.

Wow talk about an inflated sense of super intelligence, who doesn't this about the word game? And of course it's a duel meaning title

This has been a pet peeve of mine since the first time I read the short story in middle school. Believe it or not, lots of people are totally clueless about the word "game", You aren't one of them, congrats. The title, "The Most Dangerous Game", was meant as a profound statement about human beings.
Inflated sense of super intelligence... Maybe, but how many people endeavor to be wrong? I have gotten called on my misuse of English words before (See my posts on "The Man From Earth"), I think it's fair to challenge others on their word usage, I think I did so in an un-provocative way.

If it is truly meant (and understood) as a duel meaning, then I retract my complaint. However, I think it's important to understand what the original short story's title meant in order to understand its statement about humanity.

I was a bit harsh with my comment, sorry, but yeah I realize people in this day and age do have their blind spots, I wouldn't be surprised if the word game wasn't common knowledge.

When I read The Most Dangerous Game I had no idea what it was about and I had to write a prediction about the title, I was being a smartass so I wrote "IT'S ABOUT PEOPLE GETTING HUNTED FOR SPORT" as just a offhand comment, then I found out I was right! Good story too.

If you two guys were as smart as you think you are, you wouldn't be confusing 'duel' with 'dual'. ;)

YOU TAKE THAT BACK

Where the hell do you live? In the hood, when some says "the game", it means the streets, the hard times. Surviving the game means what it means, it's the game that the rich are playing on the poor. Just like where I am from, it's not your white picket fences, the street is the game. You have to survive it, beat the odds.

I've had my shares of run ins with gangs, abusive cops, I'm just an normal guy trying to live a normal life but where I'm from, sometimes it's not so easy. It's what we call a GAME. Life is the GAME.

I love how people like you try to over analyze something and be totally off about it.

State champ in martial arts, trained with firearms, I eFF'n dare you!

They actually got me! I was thinking, "Of course it's a dual meaning title" and "what? of course most people know game also means 'what is being hunted' and not only 'what is played'"
So it's a triple meaning title, which is about the onlu smart thing anout this movie (if you ask me). I'm watching this as I write and I'm constantly baffled of what they managed to produce given the budget - I mean, it seems to me that they had a decent budget but the end product is B-level... I just can't wrap my head around it and I'm really curios to what the back story is... Does anyone know? What went wrong?
