It's a figure of speech. He didn't remember on which day it happened. He just said a random day to prove he doesn't care.

It's a figure of speech. It means to him it was just another day. No different from any other Tuesday. There'll be another one with no more importance than the last one.

In any case, that's not a plot point since it doesn't mess with the plot.
