Picards Christmas fantasy

Picards Xmas nexus had a Twilight Zone feel to it - that scene of him looking out at the tree and at the exploding star baubles (reminding him the Amargosa star had gone nova and everyone was dead) was very Christmasy but at the same time very eerie (the score etc), made me wonder what was outside the house...just pitch blackness maybe...(like in The Royale)

Probably it was way cliche, way over dramatic more than it had to be, but inside I really really really liked that scene! So many more reasons I can say why I liked it but its prob the same reasons others liked it or hated, even the reasons I mentioned about it being silly made me love it that much more. And ya it does have that spooky feel to it, felt specially the same way when he ran into Kirk, watching Kirk harken back to the old days to do things differently, that was so awesome!!!!!!!!!!! not enough exclamation points to exlclaim how cool that was.

START THE REVOLUTION! SHRED THE GOVERNMENT! My favorite movie is V for Vendetta.

Yeah I got the same feeling from that scene, I think that is what the movie-makers were going for. As lovely and idyllic as Picard's fantasy family was, it was too perfect (I think he even says something like that at one point in the story?) which is what makes him start to question it, then the eerie Christmas ornament makes him realize the truth of what has happened, hence ruining the fantasy for him, and he realizes he cannot stay. Still, this is one of two favorite scenes from this movie (my other favorite is when Data is reunited with Spot). Star Trek TNG and this movie make it known that despite everything he has achieved in life, Picard still greatly wishes he had his own family. I think many people who dream of having a spouse and family of their own picture things like this scene (minus the eerie-ness of course).
