Why not Edith Keeler in the Nexus?

There are two possibilities:

1. Kirk knew he was in the Nexus and that he would not have allowed himself to be pulled away from Edith, so he used his latest gal Antonia or

2. Bad writing.

No matter WHO they chose there'd be complaints.

Choose Edith? Fans would complain it should've been Carol Marcus or his Indian Wife.

If this was to Kirk's true nature it would have been ALL of them and a 5 gallon can of Vaseline, a 500ct bottle of Space Viagra and McCoy's special cocktail of Valtrex/Penicillin/SpaceAIDS inoculation !!! 

That's my problem with Kirk's line in TWOK that he never faced death. What the?

Yes but he said he never faced death. Then he says "not like this". He was much closer to spock then the others. Spock was Almost a part that made kirk survive. More so than bones.
