Am I the only one who loved it???

Geez, I must be crazy, but I absolutely loved this movie! It was SO cute! One of my faves to be sure... who's with me?

reply

I liked it too. I watched it religiously after it came out to video, and I had the poster. I even won tickets to the sneak preview and saw it the Wednesday before it premiered. After that, I took my aunt and my grandma to see it in the theater. Did you know that Geena Davis was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in "Speechless"? She lost to Jamie Lee Curtis.

I did know that she was nominated... that was a shocker!!! But I thought it was great!!! I love that movie... the first time I saw it was after I got 6 teeth pulled and I couldn't feel my whole face... I spilled banana milkshake all over the place! But I fell in love with it!!!

No se tú
I don’t know if you
pero yo no dejo de pensar
but I can’t stop thinking
ni un minuto me logro despojar
even for a minute can take apart
de tus besos, tus abrazos,
from your kisses, your hugs
de lo bien que la pasamos la otra vez.
from how well we were the other time.

No sé tú
I don’t know if you
pero yo quisiera repetir
but I would like to repeat
el cansancio que me hiciste sentir
the tiredness you made me feel
con la noche que me diste
with the night you gave me
y el momento que con besos construíste.
and the momet that you built with kisses.

No sé tú
I don’t know if you
pero yo te he comenzado a extrañar
but I have started missing you
en mi almohada no te dejo de pensar
in my pillow I can’t stop thinking of you
con las gentes, mis amigos,
with people, my friends,
en las calles, sin testigos.
in the street, without witnesses.

No sé tú
I don’t know if you
pero yo te busco en cada amanecer
but I look for you in every dawn
mis deseos no los puedo contener
I can’t constraint my desires
en las noches, cuando duermo,
at nights, when I am asleep
si de insomnio, no me enfermo
if I don’t fall ill of insomnia
me haces falta, mucha falta
I lack you, so much
no sé tú.
I don’t know if you.

I liked it too. You're not alone.

I love this film. It is corny in places but it always makes me smile.

I absolutely loved this movie. Its one that I can see over and over and it always makes me smile also.

reply

Oh, you're definitely not the only one. It's right up there with things like Serendipity, Grosse Pointe Blank and Black Hawk Down on my favourite films list.

And as for screen chemistry, Keaton and Davis are in the same league as Josh and Donna, or those two in Serendipity... me and my memory again.

I loved this movie too.

I remeber seeing it in the movie theater. I hadn't seen it since but now I have my own tv and when it came on cable a week or so ago I had to have it on DVD and I'm loving it. I keep watching it over and over. But again I'm watching all sorts of Michael Keaton movies.

No, you're not alone, but apparently, there just isn't any fanbase for this movie. I think people think of this as a political comedy instead of it being a romantic comedy, and that keeps them away in droves. I think it's just fun.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

reply

It was ok but the last half of the movie does kinda fall apart

reply

I like it too, but maybe not love it. But whenever it comes on TV I always watch it because it tickles me. Some great lines and Davis and Keaton seem natural and intelligent together.

One line my wife and I always laugh and quote to each other (I can't remember it exactly):

She: "No, No, Never, International Sign for 'Not' [draws a circle with a slash through it], No!"

He: "So, does that mean we're still on for tonight or what?"

reply

I have it in my top 10 collection. It's extremely funny and ironic and casts a couple of the funniest actors in combo ever.

Totally agree.

In fact I started my own thread... then saw yours.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

That entire school debate scene was hilarious. I'd swear you can see Keaton almost laugh when Geena Davis is doing the the whole "no" scene.
