'I'll forgive you. Millions wouldn't.'

This is what the bearded crippled station clerk said to the woman. But I was wandering whether this line meant what I understand - "I'll forgive you (I may pass on having sex with you. But millions other won't miss the chance.) Am I right?

reply

No no, its a common Australian expression, kind of saying "Don't worry, it's ok....NOT" Its a very gentle reproach.

reply

Are you sure? I kinda like my interpretation more.

Hey! A pussy is a pussy.

Ive lived here all my life. Used the expression when I was a kid (It's gone out of fashion now, the younger generation preferring to use the American 'Not').

Neither Estella or her husband knew or didn't bother to notice he only had one leg when she asked if he could help them carry their baggage, she thought she had offended him and he forgave her. Some people might not have forgiven her for not noticing they only had one leg.

Kind of like I'll forgive you, but I won't forget or don't worry about it, I'll get over it, and don't worry about it, it's forgotten.

So no I don't think you're right.

Movies will make you famous; Television will make you rich; But theatre will make you good.

Didn't it occur to anyone that he probably lost his leg in WWI and was pointing to the millions of soldiers who lost their LIVES, and weren't neither willing not able to forgive this senseless hecatomb.
