I'm dying to know the name of the song (and if possible lyrics) that is played before John Newlands' brother (Tanny)'s car crash. I know it was sung by Sweet Betty and Grady 'Fats' Jackson and I have a feeling it was written by Cliff Eidelman but then again I dont really know.

The song you are referring to is "It's Much Too Late" performed by The Grady "Fats" Jackson Band, featuring Sweet Betty. One of the advantages of pause at the end of the DVD.

I actually choose that song for the movie!
Besides working on set I also drove the director everyday and we would listen to many soundtracks of possible songs for the film. He asked my opinion of which one I liked for this scene and I thought it fit for what was going on. One of those things I'll always remember when I see the film...
I was also there for the children's recording of "What to do with a Drunken Sailor" and after hearing them sing it again and again I still cringe every time it comes up to this day.
