Where is this set?

I havnt seen this in a long time, but isnt this film set in the future?.

I know some places in the uk look pretty wrecked but this film looked post apocalyptic and the police uniforms looked different to how they where then, they dressed alot like the military(i think).

The Netflix description does say "futuristic". Coulda fooled me with all those out dated cars. I thought the movie took place in the early 1990s, a few years before the movie came out. I wonder what parts we were supposed to consider futuristic?

Most of the film was set around North Kensington in central London. Billy's home is in Trellick Tower (famous for it's outer liftshaft).

As to the cars. Yeah, they were old cos the film had bugger all money to spend. Police cars (and the car Beebop and Monkey die in at the end) were 1982-3 Ford Sierras and the car Billy crashes was a very old (and very basic) BMW 316.

Agree that the cars are crap, but you have to look beyond that. It's locations are all in London as far as I can tell but the dialogue does suggest that it's just some provincial British city, anywhere from Sheffield to Bristol.

I think this is a great movie!
