Great but shouldn't be number 1
Enjoyed this film but no 1?
Would probably rate it at no 30 in my top movies.
Do you realize that only one person in the whole world, YOU, care where YOU would rate it?
No one that I know of ever said "Shawshank is the greatest movie ever made." However it does have the highest IMDb rating based on viewer votes, and if that bothers you or anyone else all I can say is, in the famous words of "The Eagles", Get Over It.

Well, that's what happens when you and other fanboys shill vote a movie to number one on a movie site. Did you think you'd all be able to take an average movie like this, push it to number one, and not generate a backlash? People aren't stupid. Just because you successfully campaigned to make a mediocre movie number one on the IMDB doesn't mean the rest of the world is going to just lay back and say nothing about it. Everyone knows that this not only would never qualify as the best film of all time, it's not even one of the most popular films of all time.

shareAgree...when rated against that AVERAGE piece of yankee diatribe "Forrest DUMP" (they either stole or bribed for their oscars over this movie), I have NEVER met anyone that thinks Shawshank is a worse movie than Forrest
shareThe votes are determined by the people... Many critics would not claim this to be the best.... The best is often cited as Citizen Kane, etc... However, votes are determined by verified accounts, sure they can be gamed, as much as 10-50,000 in either direction, particularly the fan-boy comic shows who give it a 1 or 10 based on principle or stupidity in anger or awe...
But this is a fantastic movie.. I would rate it in my top 10, as I see more great foreign films and older movies, and just more cinema in general as I and this movie age, it is near the bottom now, but it will likely remain in my top 20 for life. To me a 10/10 is reserved for personal favorites, as no movie is completely perfect, like how did he reattach the poster, his appeal, small things really, but art is never perfect IMO.

haha, yeah, nice Title, missed that at first. I agree The Godfather has a lore of it's own, still, despite that, it's the people that voted for it.
shareHi there. I love the "Shawshank Redemption", but "Forrest Gump" is for me a superior movie, especially because the message is much more powerful. Shawshank is the story of a wrongly convicted man who escapes and finds happiness and redemption. Forrest Gump is a movie about life itself. Much more meaningful. That is of course my own personal opinion. :)
