Complete jerks

These flatmates are complete sociopathic jerks. Does Danny Boyle want us to feel sorry for them? Or are we supposed to sympathize with or laugh at their betrayal of each other and ultimate comeuppance? Because I did neither. Sorry, but in the end this film felt kind of pointless. The dialogue, editing and cinematography is great and there's obviously very strong talent in the cast, so it's a shame.
