what would happen to ewan mc gregor's character?

he has alot of questions left to answer and he's literally pinned to the crime scene.

He could easily pin the whole thing on Juliet and David. He didn't kill anybody. David's dead. And Juliet fled the country which only a guilty person who do. Not only that, he knows exactly where the money is. He'll be living it easy from here on out while Juliet is lost abroad and pretty much broke.

He might survive and get away with it, assuming they don't find the money (it is possible that freeing him from being pinned to the floor might entail removing the floorboards under him, in which case the money will be found). I don't like his character so I do not wish him a happy ending.

I figured he was dead. And his last sentence was some afterlife overseeing of the situation. If he'd still be alive, the police wouldn't be taking photos of him, they'd be helping him...

The last sentence is David speaking...a follow-on from his opening statement about friendship.

It's not Alex.

He said ‘his’ last sentence - referring to Alex.

Anyway, Boyle has confirmed that Alex is alive at the end, so presumably he’ll be freed, pin it all on his ‘friends’ and go on to enjoy the money, albeit scarred by the whole ordeal.

He’ll also have to sleep with one eye open in case Juliet decides she has nothing left to lose and wants to head back to Scotland to exact revenge.
