invisibility inconsistent

Anyone bothered by the fact that Tim Curry could see him in the water?

I thought the Shadow's invisibility was a purely mental thing - "clouding men's minds"

If your mind won't let you see the Shadow, it shouldn't let you see a cavity in the water where he's standing

Then again, if you can see his actual shadow, I guess a water-cavity is much the same

This never bothered me. It's all rather fantastical/fanciful anyway.

He can hide himself. He can't change the physical properties of water. He can make you think something isn't there or ignore it. However,if someone were bump into him, they'd still bump into him. Kind of like the hidden hotel. As long as people think the lot is empty and they think there's no reason to go into the lot, they won't notice it. If they threw a rock, it would still bounce off the building.
